Today on the podcast I have one of my mentors who I literally can't say enough good things about. He has changed my life in so many ways and I am endlessly grateful of the amount of love, support, care and attention he's poured into me since the beginning. JJ Virgin In this episode JJ and I spoke about all of the things. From motherhood, family, growing a business, sugar cravings, willpower and victimhood, we talked about how our mindset is the foundational support for every belief we have (something we talk about all the time on the show). So many of us become attached to a story of victimhood and if we're not mindful, it can seep into every area in our lives. I love how JJ breaks this down in the episode and sums it up with her quote, "There are no victims, only volunteers."

About JJ Virgin

Celebrity nutrition and fitness expert JJ Virgin teaches clients how to lose weight and master their mindset so they can lead bigger, better lives. She is author of 4 NY Times bestsellers: The Virgin Diet, The Virgin Diet Cookbook, JJ Virgin’s Sugar Impact Diet, and JJ Virgin’s Sugar Impact Diet Cookbook. Her memoir Miracle Mindset: A Mother, Her Son, & Life’s Hardest Lessons explores the powerful lessons in strength and positivity that she learned after her son Grant was the victim of a brutal hit-and-run accident . JJ hosts the popular JJ Virgin Lifestyle Show podcast and regularly writes for Huffington Post, Rodale Wellness, and other major blogs and magazines. She’s also a frequent guest on TV and radio and speaks at major events. In addition to her work with nutrition and fitness, JJ is also a business coach and founded the premier health entrepreneur event and community, The Mindshare Summit.

In this episode, JJ shares:

1. An in depth explanation of sugar cravings and the importance of reading food labels.

2. Her son’s near death experience and how it changed her life.

3. How being afraid of our next step is an opportunity to level up.

What You’ll Hear:

9:00- Is willpower actually a thing we all struggle with?

18:00- How our behaviors are a result of our belief systems.

22:00- What keeps JJ going?

31:00- How to continually level up when it gets sticky.

Today I’m interviewing Rachel Foy and I loved this episode. We touched base on so many levels in this episode. Her and I both were chronic dieters for years and we talked about having a respect and appreciation for food. I know for a lot of people listening, they’re like, “I don’t know how to do that because I’m feeling so anxious around it!” so we kind of go through the cycles of what it takes in order to truly come to a place of appreciation around food.

About Rachel Foy:
Rachel Foy AKA The Food Freedom Coach is a UK based eating psychology mindset coach. She works with smart ambitious women to stop fighting food, make peace with their body and take their life back so food and weight obsession are no longer a part of it.

Her background is in clinical and cognitive hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Eating Psychology, nutritional therapy and EFT (emotional freedom technique).

In this episode, Rachel shares:
Our emotional state is tied to our digestion.
The shifts that change once we create an appreciation for our food.
How often we blame our weight...but it’s not actually the problem.

What You’ll Hear:
4:45- How our emotional state around food ties into our digestion.
11:15- Rachel’s heartbreak and how it led to her self-discovery.
22:00- Recognizing the media’s portrayal of beauty is a belief we don’t have to follow.
28:50- Developing trust and neutrality around food.
