Look, I GET IT. 2020 has been A LOT to navigate. That's why I brought today's guest to the show, Melissa Monte. Melissa is an incredible speaker and host of the Mind Love podcast where she helps people find their passion and purpose (amazing). In our conversation together, we get into the tools that you need to emotionally handle the chaos of this year. We jam on values, beliefs, developing compassion for other people's beliefs, and how to reverse patterns of self-destruction.

About Melissa Monte:
Melissa Monte is one of today’s influential and thought-provoking explorers of the mindset and positive energy. She’s known for her ability to educe and explain complex ideas with humor and clarity, in a way that deeply connects with a wide audience. On her popular, heartfelt podcast “Mind Love,” she discusses mindset shifts, energy frequencies and modern mindfulness through raw stories, personal experience and inspiring interviews.

Melissa’s ability to connect with her audience is largely due to what some call an extreme amount of life experience. She was a victim of sexual assault, twice. She suffered the loss of a close friend by suicide. She lost a parent from lymphoma. For ten years, she was consumed by a dangerous eating disorder, that led to chronic intestinal damage, both of which she overcame against the odds. And she was emotionally trapped in a manipulative relationship with a sociopath that ultimately landed her in jail for someone else’s crime.

Melissa Monte is a certified yoga teacher and reiki healer. She’s also certified in Accelerated Free Fall Skydiving and she’s a student of meditation and mindfulness practices. Melissa started her career in digital media and was the Vice President of a startup when she fully realized her passion of helping people become their best selves. Her countless hours of research and self-experimentation contribute to her vast knowledge of improving the human condition. She lives in Santa Monica with her husband; they have a dog named Maverick Danger that fills their hearts. She spends her free time doing yoga, slacklining, and drinking matcha lattes by the beach.

Inside this episode, Melissa shares:

  • What makes Melissa feel most alive
  • How you need to interact more with the world
  • Why you have to stay strong in your controversial views
  • Her mindset on allowing your values to be concrete but your beliefs to be flexible
  • How you can cultivate deeper compassion and curiosity for other people’s beliefs
  • Melissa’s process for what she does when she gets triggered
  • How to reverse self-destruction patterns

If you’ve gone through a divorce you might be wondering how you can begin to rebuild yourself. Divorces are extremely challenging but there are parts of divorce that should be celebrated because it means you’ve acknowledged and honored your truth. In this episode, I had on Amy Pamensky, a spiritual teacher and mindset coach. We talked about her divorce and what made her realize it was time to move on from the relationship. She and I discuss what you should do if you’re worried you’re not in the right relationship, the resistance she faced when going inward to find her truth and how you can start to show up as the best version of yourself.

About Amy Pamensky:

I’m a spiritual teacher and a mindset coach. Instead of following the path that I thought I should take. I got divorced, I started a new business, and I moved to a new area. Seemingly out of nowhere, I started to meet incredible new friends. For the first time since 4th grade I finally started to feel like I could be myself and fit in. My business took off, my health improved, I lost weight with ease, and I felt confident to be the most authentic version of myself. I’ve turned my pain into purpose and now I have the honor of teaching hundreds of women how to do the same through my group coaching program called Light Up Your Life. Because I believe that HAPPINESS is your birthright and that you get to live a life LIGHTS your SOUL on FIRE.

Inside this episode, Amy shares:

  • How being in service and seeing other women come into their power makes Amy feel most alive
  • Her mindset before getting married
  • The shifts that made her realize it was time to end her marriage
  • Amy’s advice for someone who knows their not in the right relationship

I am super excited to be bringing you today’s episode where I will be sharing something that is super special to me. I asked my publisher Hay House if I could share a chapter of my book with you guys on the podcast and they graciously agreed to let me do it. I can’t wait for you all to have this book in your hands and I am incredibly grateful to share this very vulnerable part of my story. This chapter is from some of my darkest days which makes it a little scary to share but there’s so much growth that can come from really sharing, expanding, and leaning into our pain and past wounds.

In this episode I jam on:

  • Why you should keep your heart open when it’s wanting to contract
  • A chapter from my book, Hungry for Happiness: Stop Emotional Eating & Start Loving Yourself

Healing from past wounds takes the ability to reconnect with yourself and the drive to regulate your nervous system. I am so excited to share this conversation on healing with today’s guest, Nicole LePera. Nicole is a Holistic Psychologist who helps people on their journey to wellness and healing themselves. We talked about so much in this episode including the empowerment that comes through your own healing and the power that comes from knowing you can destroy the parts of you that aren’t serving you. Meditation isn’t for everyone. It can be really challenging to get into a meditative state which is why I am an advocate for breathwork. The power of your breath is easy to access and brings just as many benefits as meditation. When you have deep states of resource and are using your breath to access something deeper within you, you can hold it all without feeling as heavy. You have to increase your capacity, by increasing your energy. This isn’t about biohacking or having a cup of coffee because true energy comes from within our bodies. In this episode, I am talking about why you should consider the breathwork modality and a simple 90-second breathwork experience you can use whenever you need to tap into your wellbeing.

Inside this episode I jam on:

  • A story about how I struggled with meditation and found breathwork
  • Why it’s so hard to feel yourself when you’re congested with the emotionality of other people
  • Why you need to use breathwork to unhook the mind
  • The beautiful shift of getting out of your mind and into your body
  • A simple 90-second breathwork experience
  • How breathwork gives you access without waiting for an opening
