Maggie Berghoff

This episode with Maggie is about slowing down and paying attention to our gut health. Our overall well-being, internal and external, is channeled through our gut. What we decide to eat, how we think, our physical environment, all of these things affect our gut and if something is off balance, our body calls out for help through sensations. This can show up as anxiety, depression, moodiness, the inability to sleep, bloating after meals, food intolerances; all of that fun stuff. Maggie gets really deep into this and gives us some insight on how we can explore our bodies' signals so we can heal.

About Maggie Berghoff:

Maggie Berghoff is a nurse practitioner trained in Functional Medicine. She uses a renowned step-by-step framework known as Balance Protocol to transform the lives of men and women using cutting-edge and natural medicine. Maggie’s clients report increased energy and vitality, weight loss, hormone balance, glowing and anti-aging skin, and chronic disease reversal. They are able to fully live the vibrant, beautiful, happy life of health freedom and bliss they deserve.

In this episode, Maggie shares:

  1. How we can reduce inflammation and cultivate more energy in our bodies.
  2. Symptoms of an unhealthy gut and how to identify the problem.
  3. How we can stop ourselves from spiraling into self-sabotage when we start to feel it coming on.

What You’ll Hear:

3:16- How Maggie healed her body from years of restriction.

9:30-How to identify if your gut is off balance.

15:27- How we can reverse the symptoms of our gut health.

In this EP Mary and I talk about conscious communication. Our words are our wands. They're the gateway between our souls and what actually manifests in our lives. Recognized as a thought leader, Mary teaches individuals how to inspire others, create new ways of thinking, achieve their goals, and take action to create meaningful results. She developed the Words That Work system, which inspired her Hay House book, Conscious Communications. Mary travels across the nation giving lectures and teaching courses, and has been featured on international television shows, podcasts, and blogs.

In this episode, Mary explains:

  1. How to harness the power of your words and speak in a meaningful way.

Thais Sky

This EP with Thais Sky is such gold and it’s about the topic of worthiness, something that comes up in the Hungry for Happiness community all of the time. We really talk about the root of the good enough complex that so many of us deal with and it manifests in such different ways. So it really comes from our inner child feeling lost, lonely and unloved. What ever it may be, when we numb we’re searching for safety. I really love how she invites us to look at our wounds as our power source. I resonate with this so much because there is so much power hidden within our pain.

About Thais Sky

Thais comes from a background of binge eating and has since created a thriving business supporting women to navigate their worthiness, wounds and reclaim their sovereignty. She's an open book and happily speaks about what it truly looks like to rise from the ashes and love yourself fiercely.

In this episode, Thais shares:

1. What worthiness viscerally feels like in our bodies.

2. Why the core of so many of our challenges as women lies in our worthiness.

3. Why our wounds are our greatest source of power.

4. The difference between being a victim and having a victim mindset.

What You’ll Hear:

2:02- Exploring and dismantling our deep worthiness wounds.

9:46- The defensive mechanisms we create out of fear.

16:10- Different ways we can create safe containers to communicate our wounds.

22:55- How we can co-exist with our wounds.

31:20- Observing our behavior to see where we're playing into victimhood.

38:22- How we can start a relationship with our inner child.

43:33 Conscious movement and how it allows us to get deep into our bodies.

Madelyn Moon

I absolutely loved connecting with Maddy. Our conversation flowed so effortlessly on and off the podcast. Specifically in this episode, we talk about getting to the root of our truth and being honest about where we’re at. I think so often in personal development, spiritual development (however you want to label it), we can often bypass the truth which truly prevents our transformation. We get into all sorts of subjects in this episode around truth telling. We talk about boys, dating, relationships, ourselves and our own innate growth.

About Madelyn Moon

Madelyn Moon is an author, podcast host, retreat leader and transformational life coach. She is a guiding force for women who want to stop over-thinking their lives away, and live with more trust, intuition and flow.

In this episode,  Madelyn shares:

  1. How our ego interferes with the true definitions of masculinity and femininity.
  2. Being honest with how we feel in our bodies and making choices that feel.
  3. The importance of protecting our boundaries with others and ourselves.
  4. How we can bridge our internal emotions with our external world.

What you’ll hear:

4:45- The power of intentional creation.

8:15- How we can integrate the masculine and feminine parts of ourselves and create harmony within.

12:40- Surrendering into our feminine and releasing our perfectionism, overachiever mindset.

22:51- Relinquishing the dependency we have on the weight loss industry and the body positivity movement.

30:17- The mental, physical and energetic struggle disconnection creates in our bodies.

40:10- How we can create an intimate, healthy relationship with money.

Renee Airya

This episode with Renee Airya is about accepting the range of our emotions and feeling comfortable with expressing them. We also talk about connecting to our truth, which comes up often on the podcast, but it's so important for us to create that internal channel of connection. I love how Renee invites us to feel into our truth to decide who we are and who we’re not in the moment. And, we get to change that every moment. I tell my client's all the time, it’s all about what we can do in the moment because as we grow and evolve, our truth will change- and that’s OK.

About Renee:

Renee Airya is a former fashion model who has healed from three near death experiences, including massive brain surgery and facial paralysis. Her book, “Flip Your Flaws” is a compelling story of Renee’s personal emotional, spiritual, and physical journey from paralyzation to liberation. In this episode Renee shares:

  1.   How we can learn to appreciate our flaws and change the story surrounding them.

In this episode Jill Coleman and I talk about how we can find purpose outside of the obsession we have with our bodies. This is a huge conversation and a core desire for a lot of the women who come into HFH community. You know, it's something I had to figure on my own, understanding how to be in our bodies and how to just love myself without obsessing over myself. Jill and I also talk about creating a unique approach to life. We tend to over-consume information and jump to the thing, the next podcast, next plan, the next book and we really talk about experiencing transformation on a visceral level.

In this episode Jill shares:

  1. How to find balance in the chaos of managing your relationship with food.
  2. Why we're stuck in a state of urgency and scarcity.
  3. Shifting out of the belief that when we get to a certain weight, we will be happy.
  4. How we can transform our bodies from a place of acceptance.

This episode with Lisa Kaplin is all about getting over the fear of voicing our truth and creating a clear channel of communication. You know something I see constantly with my clients is the fear of speaking up because we're afraid of rejection and something I always say to them is it's not rejection, it's re-direction. As children we were taught to be quiet, fit in, just accept what’s given to us and follow the rules because that’s the respectful thing to do. So as evolved women when we want to speak out, wr second guess ourselves and think, "What if they don’t like me?", "What if I'm not loved?", "What if I'm rejected?" Lisa does a great job explaining how to get out of this mindset so we can feel worthy and deserving and truly just ask for and get what we want.

About Lisa

Lisa Kaplin is a psychologist and professional certified coach who works with women on building their confidence in all areas of their lives. She believes the least important aspect of a woman is her appearance so she's dedicated to helping women find meaning and joy in other ways. Lisa is a recovered good girl and perfectionist and her life is so much better because of it.

In this episode, Lisa shares:

  1. How to get clear on your needs.
  2. Asking for what you want from a position of power.
  3. Understanding your love language and expressing what makes you feel appreciated (link below)
  4. What happens when we have expectations that aren’t communicated.

What You’ll Hear:

2:02- What it costs us when our needs aren’t communicated.

7:40- The small steps we can take to ask for what we want.

19:00- The difference between being assertive and discerning vs aggressive.

31:28- The extremes of helplessness vs taking on everything.

I loved this episode. One thing we talked about with our group programs and with all of our clients is life is constantly happening for us in perfect timing. When we can step out of that victim mentality of "Life is happening to me" and and "Life is happening for me" it shifts our emotionality and we're able to see and experience more miracles and so we talked a lot about this. Jessica opens up about her condition, endometriosis and how it's given her awareness of her body.  By going plant based, she has managed and eliminated many of her symptoms. We talk about the impact of food and our bodies from an internal approach, how it affects our menstrual cycles and Jessica takes us through a body scan practice to check in which was super cool.

About Jessica

Jessica Murnane is the creator of the One Part Plant movement (she’s working to get everyone on this planet to eat one plant-based meal each day), host of the One Part Podcast, and wellness advocate (she works to raise awareness for endometriosis).

Jessica has contributed to and appeared in countless magazines and websites, including Mind Body Green, Goop, The Coveteur, Food 52, PopSugar, and Chalkboard Magazine and has spoken at Apple, Taste Talks, and Wanderlust.

Inside this episode, Jessica shares

  1. How Jessica created a cookbook from experimenting with food.
  2. Living with endometriosis and managing the symptoms.
  3. How we can check in with our body and use our pain as a teacher.

What you'll hear:

  • 8:00-How food affects our menstrual cycles.
  • 21:00- What Endometriosis has taught Jessica about her body.
  • 26:08- Living with body dysmorphia and being open to how our bodies change.
  • 40:00- A body scan practice to connect with the different sensations we feel.

This episode with the lovely Rebecca Niziol is all about recognizing our flow states. Flow is something that’s naturally accessible in our bodies and it feels different for everyone. For Rebecca, it’s the feeling of ease. For me, it’s losing track of time because I’m doing something I'm so immersed in and I totally love. We’re this steady stream of love but as we go through life, we get blocked from the pain, trauma and forced actions we experience. Rebecca explains how we can acknowledge our blocks so we can heal, remove them and get back into our natural state, which is of course flow.

About Rebecca

Rebecca Niziol is the Creator of Work with Soul, an ever-expanding community of support that connects who we are and what we do in soulful ways, as well as the host of The Work with Soul Podcast. She is a movement specialist who brings spiritual tools and practices in down to earth ways. She has taught yoga to the men’s national soccer team, guided a group of over two thousand people in meditation.

Inside this episode, Rebecca shares

  1. Why we're afraid to face our pain and how we can view it in a different way.
  2. Why we continually create the loop of feeling stuck and how we can break out of it.
  3. How to release the blocks that build up in our natural state of flow.

What you'll hear:

  • 3:49- Viewing pain as a portal to the divine.
  • 10:00- How to detach from the feeling of being stuck.
  • 14:47- The difference between forced action and inspired action.
  • 19:29- Getting over the fear of doing something new and trusting the process.
  • 25:49- How we can take inspired action to connect to our natural flow state.

In this episode with Katie Dalebout we talk about expressing our true selves through journaling. I freaking love journaling and for those of you who are not journalers, journaling is a beautiful way to release the emotionality that’s trapped in our bodies so we can really decipher the difference between what is true and what is not true. So whether we have an idea, need to process an emotion or we just literally need to dump our thoughts down, we can do it in a sacred space without any fear of judgment. Katie really speaks to this and shares how journaling has helped her connect to her higher self.

In 2013 Katie Dalebout launched the weekly podcast Let It Out which now has over 100 episodes. She’s the author of the Amazon best-selling book Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling and has contributed to Hello Giggles, Refinery29, and Mind Body Green. Through her speaking and writing she aims to help people develop a positive image of their bodies by embracing their creativity & personality outside of their physicality.

Inside this episode, Katie shares

  1. How journaling allows us to be the observer of our thoughts.
  2. Creating more of what we want by having gratitude around what we have.

In this episode we talk about the mindset of men and how women can support them in cultivating emotional intelligence. He said something really profound, “Women are the permission cards for men’s vulnerability and growth.” I  loved that because it’s not from a place of trying to control, but from us being the example. You know, showing up, being vulnerable, talking about our emotions and processing them in real time. It’s a beautiful dance.

I have brought on one of my dear clients, Sue Spencer. She is a society alumni and she is currently in the Hungry for Happiness Certification Program to certify herself to become a Hungry for Happiness coach. The reason I brought Sue on the podcast is she is so incredibly inspiring. I love when my clients come on. They can really speak to where they're at and the journey they go through so you as listeners can really have an inside scoop of what it's really like to finally end the battle with food and your body.

Today Robyn and I talk about energetic frequencies, vibrations and flow. I am so into this conversation about vibe and food. It is something that I am personally really digging into in my own life and I using in my own work as well. But what I love about this episode is how Robyn brings quantum physics to the conversation, so it's like combining woo woo stuff with actual science proving we and everything around us is just energy. All day long we’re either giving or receiving energy. The more energy we have, the higher we vibrate and more of what we LOVE becomes available to us. Robyn goes more in depth in her new book Vibe and has given our listeners some great freebies. Make sure to listen in for the links or check the show notes.

This conversation with Christine made me feel so energized. She is a force. She’s one of those beautiful women who’s been in this industry for quite a while and she has never swayed from her integrity. That’s what I appreciate so much about her.  She’s just so knowledgeable in the realm of personal development and we get into the fundamental reasons why of so many of us don’t fully jump into our transformation with both feet. For those of you saying,”I don't know how to find my purpose.” and for those of you searching for your purpose, Christine gives us a different definition of what purpose truly is and you may find that you’re right where you need to be. JJ Virgin In this episode JJ and I spoke about all of the things. From motherhood, family, growing a business, sugar cravings, willpower and victimhood, we talked about how our mindset is the foundational support for every belief we have (something we talk about all the time on the show). So many of us become attached to a story of victimhood and if we're not mindful, it can seep into every area in our lives. I love how JJ breaks this down in the episode and sums it up with her quote, "There are no victims, only volunteers."

About JJ Virgin

Celebrity nutrition and fitness expert JJ Virgin teaches clients how to lose weight and master their mindset so they can lead bigger, better lives. She is author of 4 NY Times bestsellers: The Virgin Diet, The Virgin Diet Cookbook, JJ Virgin’s Sugar Impact Diet, and JJ Virgin’s Sugar Impact Diet Cookbook. Her memoir Miracle Mindset: A Mother, Her Son, & Life’s Hardest Lessons explores the powerful lessons in strength and positivity that she learned after her son Grant was the victim of a brutal hit-and-run accident . JJ hosts the popular JJ Virgin Lifestyle Show podcast and regularly writes for Huffington Post, Rodale Wellness, and other major blogs and magazines. She’s also a frequent guest on TV and radio and speaks at major events. In addition to her work with nutrition and fitness, JJ is also a business coach and founded the premier health entrepreneur event and community, The Mindshare Summit.

In this episode, JJ shares:

1. An in depth explanation of sugar cravings and the importance of reading food labels.

2. Her son’s near death experience and how it changed her life.

3. How being afraid of our next step is an opportunity to level up.

What You’ll Hear:

9:00- Is willpower actually a thing we all struggle with?

18:00- How our behaviors are a result of our belief systems.

22:00- What keeps JJ going?

31:00- How to continually level up when it gets sticky.

Today I’m interviewing Rachel Foy and I loved this episode. We touched base on so many levels in this episode. Her and I both were chronic dieters for years and we talked about having a respect and appreciation for food. I know for a lot of people listening, they’re like, “I don’t know how to do that because I’m feeling so anxious around it!” so we kind of go through the cycles of what it takes in order to truly come to a place of appreciation around food.

About Rachel Foy:
Rachel Foy AKA The Food Freedom Coach is a UK based eating psychology mindset coach. She works with smart ambitious women to stop fighting food, make peace with their body and take their life back so food and weight obsession are no longer a part of it.

Her background is in clinical and cognitive hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Eating Psychology, nutritional therapy and EFT (emotional freedom technique).

In this episode, Rachel shares:
Our emotional state is tied to our digestion.
The shifts that change once we create an appreciation for our food.
How often we blame our weight...but it’s not actually the problem.

What You’ll Hear:
4:45- How our emotional state around food ties into our digestion.
11:15- Rachel’s heartbreak and how it led to her self-discovery.
22:00- Recognizing the media’s portrayal of beauty is a belief we don’t have to follow.
28:50- Developing trust and neutrality around food.
