In this solo jam I'm talking about how to make your life a masterpiece. I heard this quote the other day and I was like, “That’s so good!” It was by Michelangelo and he said I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free. I was like, “Man. that's what we're doing with ourselves everyday.” We are carving at the pieces that don't belong to sculpt ourselves into the truest most authentic versions of who we are. Underneath everything, we are these Divine being of light and love. We are these incredible masterpieces that are just so perfect and so amazing. It's so out of this world incredible.

In this episode, I share:

  • Peeling back the illusion of our lives and recognizing our brilliance.
  • Why we struggle with beliefs, patterns, and stories.
  • Changing the meaning of our emotions.
  • Dropping into our bodies and being connected to our present moment.
  • Creating our realities through shifting our energy.

Today on the podcast I am doing a solo jam and I’m talking about this whole concept that we see in the personal development industry and in the self-help world. "Good Vibes Only" perpetuates this idea that we should only be positive all the time which is truly stopping us from growing. And guess what? The growth is in the shadow, the growth is in the darkness, the growth is in the entire spectrum of emotionality, not just a fragment of it. So in this episode I walk you through how to truly extract what is so valuable and makes us human. If you enjoy this episode, I would so appreciate if you hop on over I over and give it a review! Let me know if you like it and also I would love to hear what you want me to do so episodes on. That would be so helpful for me. I love you and I hope you enjoy this episode.

In this episode, I share:

  • Releasing the ‘everything is awesome’ mask.
  • The importance of acknowledging our darkness and accepting it.
  • Going with the flow of life and being unattached to the outcome.
  • Living in the moment and understanding our plans may shift.
  • Why the "good vibes only" slogan is bs.

EP 078: BECOMING AN EXTRAORDINARY ENTREPRENEUR WITH AJIT NAWALKHA

I absolutely loved and chatting with Ajit Nawalkha. He is one of the most incredible minds when it comes to business. He is part of Mind Valley which is an incredible organization, which you’re going to learn all about. We talked about how to design a business for long-term growth and how to really create a sustainable impact, focused business. This episode is about business, but it’s so much more about the relationships, the energetics, and the responsibilities of the leaders of that organization. When I say that, I don't mean you have to have a huge business for this conversation to be highly valuable because the things that we extract are still applicable even if you're at the earlier stages of the journey or earlier stages of entrepreneurship. This is a conversation that I would have loved to have listened to at the very rid of the gate, as I was becoming an entrepreneur and starting my first wellness coaching business. He is such a genius when it comes to business. I'm just so highly I just respect him so much for how he runs his business, how he operates himself, how he takes such high levels of emotional responsibility in his personal life, which of course then transitions into his business.

About Ajit Nawalkha

Ajit Nawalkha is an entrepreneur, business coach, founder of Evercoach author of The Book of Coaching and a co-founder of Mindvalley - the one of the biggest publishers in personal development space. Today he is getting ready to share the strategies that helped him build numerous multiple million-dollar businesses in his "Live Big" book launching in December 2019.

In this episode, Ajit shares:

  • The most important, overlooked business tactic that most people miss.
  • Designing a business to last long term.
  • How to get into flow, be proactive about your time, and create deep, quality work.
  • Where our biggest ideas and creativity come from and how to infuse this into business.
  • Being intentional about our goals and consistently showing up to allow them to come into fruition.
  • The importance of company culture and great tips on leadership and management.
  • Creating a space where employees feel valued and understood.

I was running one of the Hungry for Happiness retreats here in San Diego and the whole topic of self-sabotage was hot tamales! So, I wanted to bring some of that onto the podcast and give you some insight into that because I feel we just love to sabotage ourselves. But here’s the thing, we don’t understand why we’re doing it. We don’t understand how it happens; we just do it. Then we feel like we’re worthless, weak, and we have no willpower and that’s actually not the case. In this episode, I’m going to be talking about why self sabotage happens in the first place, how to prevent it from happening, how we can get over having the fraud complex, how we can get over things like not being where we’re at, yet, and how to embody the frequency to attract what we want.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why we sabotage ourselves and how to prevent it from happening.
  • How to move through the imposter syndrome.
  • How to embody the frequency to attract what we want.

Today on the show I have Heather and Timmi from Energy Muse. This episode is for my woo woos, alright. This episode is not going to resonate with everyone because everyone isn’t into crystals, but maybe if you have like one toe in the crystal land, listen up. I was really interested for myself of how other people use crystals because sometimes I’d think, “Oh people buy crystals because they’re just trying to be spiritual #ultraspiritual,” but it was really beautiful how these women, who’ve been into crystals before crystals were cool, educate people, demystify the concept of crystals, and give us simple examples of how to use crystals for results. They also share their personal journeys through using crystals.

About Timmi and Heather

Energy Muse is a conscious lifestyle brand, providing tools of empowerment, inspiration, and hope in the tangible form of jewelry and crystals. Founded in 2000 by Heather Askinosie and Timmi Jandro, they are helping people reconnect with the energy of the Earth to align with their highest self, realize their true calling, and tap into their own personal magnificence. They recently authored the book Crystal Muse: Everyday Rituals to Tune into the Real You.

In this episode, Timmi and Heather share:

  • How to slow down in the midst of running a business and a busy lifestyle.
  • What happens when we ignore our body’s exhaustion cues.
  • The importance of taking inventory of what fuels us, what depletes us, and identifying when we’re stuck in our stories.
  • Demystifying the use of crystals, how to choose them, and how to work with them.
  • Learning how to use painful or uncomfortable lessons to fuel our experiences.

What's up love the welcome back to the Hungry for Happiness podcast. You are listening to episode number 073 with Kylee and Clara from Love Rising. In this episode we talked about how to actually increase our bodies’ to the frequency of that worth where we know we can attract everything that we desire and why investing in ourselves is one of the bravest things we can possibly do. I remember going back to when I first started Hungry for Happiness. I hired a business coach that cost more money than I made that month and I so I went into a deficit month after month after month, and the only thing I could bet on was myself. It really taught me how strong and powerful I could be and I always use that as a reference when I'm either investing nor or taking big leaps of faith. It was such a powerful, powerful part of my life. We talked about connecting to our subconscious and really speaking to different parts of ourselves. I love this kind of work where we can really understand that even with with an inner child we have our 3 year old child that has its needs, we have our 9 year old, our 14 year, we have all of these different parts of us. We have our inner child, our evolved woman, our mind, our intellect. There’s so many parts of our system that’s communicating to us at various times and so we really go into how to listen, how to observe, and how to honor.

About Clara and Kylee

Clara + Kylee are both coaches on a mission to change the way women see themselves. Their mission in life and in their podcast, the Love Rising Podcast, is to help women wake up to the love inside of themselves through nourishing food, positive mindset, emotional fitness, and spiritual connection. Clara + Kylee also run a revolutionary membership life-coaching program called "The Gathering".

In this episode, Clara and Kylee share:

  • Practicing self-worth and feeling deserving of the life we want.
  • Why investing in ourselves is the most brave, healing thing we can do.
  • The importance of making time for things that truly make you happy.
  • Connecting to our subconscious and speaking to the different parts of ourselves.
  • Uncovering subconscious blocks in our systems.
  • How being firm in our boundaries is a form of self care.

This episode is very, very special to me. I had the honor of going to visit Andrew in his beautiful center in California here, and it's so incredible. I just feel so excited about sharing him with you because he is such a special person to me. I've been working with Andrew for about 2 years now, working on energy work. He is such a talented healer. What Andrew does, I can’t even explain it. He’s able to clear energy, move energy, really understand patterns and attachment, and really getting to the root of why we do what we do and why we are stuck in these behaviors and patterns that aren't serving us. He is just an absolute wizard. In this episode, we talked about how to truly access energy in our bodies, which is something that I know we talked about a lot about on the show, but the way that Andrew frames it is so beautiful and really allows us to dig into the part of us that feels calm, and feels safe. So Andrew had a near-death experience which really let him into this whole body of work. He didn't wake up one day, deciding to do this work. He was actually comedian. One day, he was surfing and he got smoked in the head with a surfboard, and he had a spiritual awakening. It's just such a beautiful story. He's such a grounded individual yet has this power to just heal, influence, and just be such a leader for oneness and wholeness.

About Andrew

At the age of 32, a surfboard bashed into Andrew’s head when he was out surfing one day. He was left unconscious in the ocean until a stranger pulled him out and saved his life. Andrew was never the same again. Andrew began to question his identity. He became incredibly present to the world in a way he never experienced before. Andrew took it upon himself to dive deep into healing and discovered his purpose.

In this episode, Andrew shares:

  • Learning to access safety in our bodies, so we can use it when fear arises within us.
  • How Andrew’s near death experience led him to become a healer.
  • How our childhood protectors have positive and negative impacts on our adult life.
  • How to acknowledge our protectors so they don’t control our experience.
  • How shifting our perception allows us to shift our energy.
  • The difference between true discernment and being in resistance.
  • Being intentional and intuitive with the types of coaches and healers you decide to work with.

I️ loved this interview. I absolutely love his energy, passion, dedication to his craft, how he views the world, and how he’s shifting his mindset consciously and intentionally in order to shift the energy in his body. What is beautiful about this practice of, “I’m going to intentionally changes my thoughts and I am going to feel the energetics of that happening in my body. By the energetics changing in my body, I create more thoughts with how I want to feel.” We talked about that a lot. It was a specific, cool conversation that we got into.

Aug 29, 2018

I loved interviewing Summer. She is a force in this space. She had so many interesting philosophies in how she explained what she does. We talked a lot about this place of neutrality with our bodies. Rather than body love as this place that we strive for, it’s about removing the body love or hate or anything and just not focusing on the body. I would really love to hear your thoughts on how you feel about this interview and let me know your stance. It might be something that makes you think, “Wow, that would be so helpful for me. I would love to hear more about that.” Of course we have the body positivity/body love movement, which is obviously telling us to love our bodies ( and there’s a large emphasis on that) I know for a lot of you, based on the feedback I’ve gotten, that feels really overwhelming because you’ve never known how to love your body so I think this interview is going to be really powerful for you.

About Summer Innanen

Summer Innanen is a  professionally trained coach specializing in body image, body positivity, self-worth and confidence and best-selling author of Body Image Remix. She’s the creator of You, On Fire – a 3 month online program that helps women break out of the diet culture cage so they can wear, say and do what they want. She’s also the host of Fearless Rebelle Radio, a podcast dedicated to anti-dieting, body positivity and feminism.

In this episode, Summer shares:

  • How to accept our bodies at any weight.
  • How elements of self doubt and criticism become rooted in our belief systems.
  • Getting to a place where weight change and the way our bodies look doesn’t affect our quality of life.
  • How to feel more comfortable and lighter in your body without focusing on weight.

She talked about simple easy ways to manifest what we want, because that will look different for everyone and it’s not as complicated as we think it should be.

This conversation was absolutely incredible. What I love about this episode is that Glenn and I have very different approaches and there's not one approach that suits everybody, so I love bringing experts on that see things a little different than me, but I still so deeply appreciate how they support people. This conversation is all about overcoming binge eating as a male, so if you know any males in your life who struggle with this I invite you to send this podcast to them, how our brains become hijacked by binge eating foods, reptilian brain and survival mode, and we get into the scientific and psychological approach, which I really love.

About Glenn Livingston

Glenn Livingston, Ph.D. is a veteran psychologist and was the long time CEO of a multi-million dollar consulting firm which has serviced several Fortune 500 clients in the food industry. Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr. Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants. Most important, however, was his own personal journey out of obesity and food prison to a normal, healthy weight and a much more light hearted relationship with food.

In this episode, Glenn shares:

  • The correlation between struggling with food and other areas of life.
  • How our brains become hijacked by binge eating foods.
  • The easiest way to naturally cure food addictions.
  • How to overcome feeling 'powerless' and out of control around food.
  • Steps you can take to overcome urges to binge in the moment.

In this conversation we talked about the importance of spending time with Mother Nature. I wrote a post a little while ago about how I have incredible mentors, coaches and teachers but I said, my greatest teacher is Mother Nature. Just learning from Mother nature and her ability to be patient, to connect and thrive. I wanted to bring in Alex because I was really inspired by her message in the world of interacting with Mother Nature for the well being of our lives.

Today on the show, I have my first ever business coach who is a total trailblazer. He embodies the essence of true leadership and we’re talking about a different type of leadership in this conversation and it’s so exciting. It’s not about corporate leadership, leading big missions, or having big followings. It’s about personal leadership. What does it mean to be the leader of your own life and what qualities do we need to embody to step into the ultimate form of self love, which is leadership.

About Shannon Graham

For over 15 years Shannon has helped leaders change the world by doing the impossible. He truly believes through the synergy of transformational coaching and collaboration we can usher in an age of unprecedented peace and prosperity to the world. His first book The Revolution of Self is focused on helping individuals find and fulfill their potential and purpose. His latest book Expand focuses on what I describe as the new era of leadership. At the end of the day my passion is seeing people thrive to their utmost.

In this episode, Shannon shares:

  • How to become the soul of your environment and actively contribute to your space.
  • Why most people believe leadership is not for them.
  • How to become a leader and create change in your life.
  • Why we don’t have to sacrifice everything to follow our dreams.
  • Creating environments that force us to expand and grow.
  • Living in an age where we’re more distracted and consumed.
  • Where the greatest suffering in the human experience comes from.
  • Putting ourselves on the line and discovering who we’re called to be.

This conversation was so good. We talked about meditation and mindfulness as a tool to heal disordered eating. So often when people struggle with disordered eating they try to externalize an internal issue. It is so internal. It is a mental and emotional issue. So when we dig into the energetics of the body, meditation being just one of those tools, we’re able to truly get in our bodies and heal from within. You guys have heard me saying multiple times, “You have to feel in order to heal.” This is what this episode is all about.

About Sarah Anne Stewart

Sarah Anne Stewart was thrown into the world of wellness as a teenager when her father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her family made a choice – to fight back with alternative medicine. Seven months later, her father was declared cancer-free, and a spark was lit in Sarah that propelled her to dedicate her life to spreading the healings her family had discovered.

In this episode, Sarah shares:

  • What it was like watching her father heal his cancer through holistic nutrition.
  • The guilt and the shame of having an eating disorder even though she had a holistic upbringing.
  • How meditation and mindfulness improves our physical bodies.
  • Suffering from breast implant illness and having the courage to remove her breast implants.
  • How emotional food journaling has helped heal her relationship to food.
  • The fear of feeling hungry and how to appreciate the information our bodies are giving us.
  • How to create a toolbox of self care practices when resistance comes up.
  • The importance of connecting with other people to share your experience.
