Why is loving yourself so challenging sometimes? In this episode, I had on Katrina Ubell, a former pediatric physician who now helps physicians prioritize their health and achieve permanent weight loss. She is a Master Certified Life and Weight Loss Coach and has seen herself the struggles that come from being busy, overwhelmed and not prioritizing yourself. We talked about her own journey of relearning how to eat when she was hungry and stop when she was full. She finally solved her overeating and weight problem without surgery, pills, unhealthy crash diets, or fitness apps and has kept it off for years. If you’ve gone through a divorce you might be wondering how you can begin to rebuild yourself. Divorces are extremely challenging but there are parts of divorce that should be celebrated because it means you’ve acknowledged and honored your truth. In this episode, I had on Amy Pamensky, a spiritual teacher and mindset coach. We talked about her divorce and what made her realize it was time to move on from the relationship. She and I discuss what you should do if you’re worried you’re not in the right relationship, the resistance she faced when going inward to find her truth and how you can start to show up as the best version of yourself.

About Amy Pamensky:

I’m a spiritual teacher and a mindset coach. Instead of following the path that I thought I should take. I got divorced, I started a new business, and I moved to a new area. Seemingly out of nowhere, I started to meet incredible new friends. For the first time since 4th grade I finally started to feel like I could be myself and fit in. My business took off, my health improved, I lost weight with ease, and I felt confident to be the most authentic version of myself. I’ve turned my pain into purpose and now I have the honor of teaching hundreds of women how to do the same through my group coaching program called Light Up Your Life. Because I believe that HAPPINESS is your birthright and that you get to live a life LIGHTS your SOUL on FIRE.

Inside this episode, Amy shares:

  • How being in service and seeing other women come into their power makes Amy feel most alive
  • Her mindset before getting married
  • The shifts that made her realize it was time to end her marriage
  • Amy’s advice for someone who knows their not in the right relationship
  • Her resistance to going inward and finding the truth
  • What she believes about living in your truth
  • A truth she’s found about herself and money that’s had a big impact on her
  • The new story she’s created for herself
  • How to discern the difference between your truth and limitations
  • The identity shift she had when going from her married name to her maiden name

I am super excited to be bringing you today’s episode where I will be sharing something that is super special to me. I can’t wait for you all to have this book in your hands and I am incredibly grateful to share this very vulnerable part of my story. This chapter is from some of my darkest days which makes it a little scary to share but there’s so much growth that can come from really sharing, expanding, and leaning into our pain and past wounds.

In this episode I jam on:

  • Why you should keep your heart open when it’s wanting to contract
  • A chapter from my book, Hungry for Happiness: Stop Emotional Eating & Start Loving Yourself

Meditation isn’t for everyone. It can be really challenging to get into a meditative state which is why I am an advocate for breathwork. The power of your breath is easy to access and brings just as many benefits as meditation. When you have deep states of resource and are using your breath to access something deeper within you, you can hold it all without feeling as heavy. You have to increase your capacity, by increasing your energy. This isn’t about biohacking or having a cup of coffee because true energy comes from within our bodies. In this episode, I am talking about why you should consider the breathwork modality and a simple 90-second breathwork experience you can use whenever you need to tap into your wellbeing.

Inside this episode I jam on:

  • A story about how I struggled with meditation and found breathwork
  • Why it’s so hard to feel yourself when you’re congested with the emotionality of other people
  • Why you need to use breathwork to unhook the mind
  • The beautiful shift of getting out of your mind and into your body
  • A simple 90-second breathwork experience
  • How breathwork gives you access without waiting for an opening

When people come to me and tell me about how much breathwork has changed their life, it’s so exhilarating. I love bringing this work to so many people and helping them to understand how they can use it to overcome life’s challenges. Many people think breathwork is just about releasing anxiety and stress but there are three, not so obvious benefits of breathwork that can have a massive impact on your life and wellbeing. In this episode, I’ll be sharing what those are along with two different types of breathwork practices you can incorporate into your daily life.

Inside this episode I jam on:

  • How this practice isn’t just about anxiety and stress
  • How so many people have suppressed anger that they need to deal with
  • Why pain (especially period pain) can be relieved through breathwork
  • Sounding the vibration of pain out through the mouth
  • How breathwork helps you to open the heart and overcome heartbreak
  • The difference between integrative and meditative breathwork

If you’re a highly ambitious person and have big goals set for yourself, you’ll need to learn to be a little more selfish. We only have 24 hours in a day and to achieve everything that your heart desires, you might have to stop overgiving to your partner, children, friends, coworkers, acquaintances and everyone else in your life.

In this episode, I had the pleasure of talking to Lori Kennedy. Lori is a business coach for health and wellness professionals who started her own business after certain life circumstances came together and made her take action. She and I chat about what strategies she uses to find her wellbeing in times of uncertainty. Lori shares why you need to claim more time back in your day to chase your dreams and what you can do to take back that time. She also talked about her own process for finding her greater why and the sacrifices she’s made to grow her business as a single parent.

Lori Kennedy is a divorced #hockeymom of 2 (girl and boy). Her professional designation is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist but she doesn’t self-identify with that title anymore. She’s the host of The Business Of Becoming Podcast and the producer of the The Wellness Business Summit Annual Live Event! Lori is a self-proclaimed introvert, highly sensitive person, intuitive empath and is very tone deaf. She’s a lover of the Universe and G-D (in a spiritual and non-religious way), karaoke, pierogies, Beyonce, fresh sheets and dance walks – usually with Beyonce playing in her ears.

Inside this episode, Lori shares:

  • How watching others grow makes her feel most alive
  • How Lori got into her career as a business coach
  • What she believes about creating the person you want to be in the world and how life circumstances caused her to take action
  • Tools and strategies Lori uses to find wellbeing in uncertain times
  • Why you have to be selfish and stop overgiving to other people
  • Strategies for stealing time during the day
  • How to cultivate the belief that you come first
  • Her process for finding a greater why
  • The sacrifices that come with being an entrepreneur and parent

Is weight cycling something you’ve struggled with for years or even decades? If so, you’ll definitely want to hear this episode where I shared three tools to help you end weight cycling once and for all. The constant battle of worrying about your relationship with food and your body can cost you a lot in the long run. If you improve in these areas by as little as 1% each day you’ll notice a huge impact long term as you begin to break free from weight cycling.

Inside this episode I jam on:

  • Why you can give yourself permission to be mediocre during this time
  • How our nervous system can’t keep up with the back and forth
  • Adapting the philosophy of getting a little bit better every day
  • Learning to value your mental health over your body image
  • Why you need to stop messing with your food and allowing your body to guide you instead of your mind
  • Listening to your emotional and physical hunger cues

Relationships are meant to add to your life and support you. But what do you do when your relationship is the opposite of that? Or when a relationship ends up being your whole life instead of an aspect of your life? Codependency is a slippery slope and I brought back a past guest, Amy Young, to discuss that. Amy is a life coach and online creator. She shares her tips for the patterns you should look for in your relationship to decide if it’s toxic. She talks about what she’s seen from clients in codependent relationships and gives her advice on why you need to have a “sacred six” daily practice. We also discuss stepping into your own being and recognizing what you tolerate in relationships.

About Amy Young:
Amy Young is a life coach and online creator who champions single women to stop settling so they can get the love they really want. With over ten million YouTube views and thousands of downloads of her solo podcast "Just What You Needed," Amy has a global audience dedicated to transforming their love lives by taking radical personal responsibility, and advocating for themselves in powerful new ways.

Inside this episode, Amy shares:

  • How small moments of presence make Amy feel most alive
  • What you can do to get in a better relationship with yourself during this time
  • Looking at the patterns in your relationship
  • How to know if you need to be healed or if your partner isn’t right for you
  • How you can define toxicity in a relationship
  • The most common needs that Amy notices from her clients
  • The characteristics of a codependent relationship
  • Why you need to have a sacred six daily practice
  • How partners tend to react when people step into their own being
  • How Amy supports her clients in cultivating their courage to find their own ground
  • Learning to recognize what’s tolerable for you in relationships

Do you find yourself running into issues with the landscape of today’s dating culture? There’s so much toxicity out there with swipe culture. Not only that, but a lot of people are also sabotaging good relationships with toxic traits. The truth is that healthy relationships take work, and that’s exactly why I had to bring on today’s guest, John Kim. John is an author and a licensed therapist who practices transparency and shares his own story (which is not the norm in the therapy industry)! He talks about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting dating culture. He shares his own experience of learning to surrender. We chat about what people do to sabotage their relationships and how your “relationship buds,” like taste buds will change over time. John also shares how to figure out the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship.

About John Kim:
John Kim is an author and licensed therapist who pioneered the online life coaching movement eight years ago, after going through a divorce and rebirth. He started a blog called The Angry Therapist and quickly built a devoted following of fans who loved the frank and authentic insights that he freely shared on social media. He pulled the curtain back and showed himself by practicing transparency and sharing his story, something therapists are taught NOT to do. Kim became known as an unconventional therapist who worked out of the box by seeing clients at coffee shops, on hikes, and the gym. He quickly built a coaching team of his own and launched a sister company called JRNI COACHING, an online coaching school. Kim’s current obsession is sending out thousands of daily texts to change the way we change.

Inside this episode, John shares:

  • How meaning makes John feel most alive
  • The difference John’s found between meaning and purpose
  • The human cycles of creation and destruction
  • What John’s seeing with the dating scene and swipe culture
  • His vision of healthy collaborative dating
  • How the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting dating culture
  • His experience of learning to surrender
  • How defense mechanisms cause you to be a more lukewarm version of yourself
  • The toxic things people do to sabotage their relationships
  • How to unbind and rewire your addiction to fantasy relationships
  • Why healthy relationships take work
  • How your “relationship buds” change over time
  • Discerning between healthy love and unhealthy love
  • What a trauma bond is and how it affects your relationships over time
